A couple of years ago, I noticed an opportunity to improve the computer science education at my school. I wanted to help, so I created and ran a small, six-week course that taught the basics of computer programming in Python, a programming language. This summer, I have decided to run this course virtually so that I could reach a larger audience of students. I have created multiple time slots and days so that you can pick the most convenient days and times for you! And it’s ok if you miss a class or two, I can get you the materials and catch you up in no time!
I have been programming in Python for over five years. I started by taking a summer class during the pandemic, and then working on several independent projects. On my own time, I have participated in numerous local hackathons, and I work part-time at Code Ninjas Bridgewater in New Jersey. I am also on my high school’s Student Technology Committee, and was selected this past summer for an internship as a member of their Code Team.
Honestly though, I find that I enjoy teaching this course more than any other computer science-related thing I do. I get to connect with students and foster relationships, all while teaching kids an important skill that will become ever more necessary for our futures.
You don’t need any experience to be a part of this course. All you need is an interest in computer science and a little bit of creativity!
